Coronation Street Idris Makes Dramatic £50k Speed Daal Gamble

Idris Sharma’s determination to secure his future at Speed Daal takes a risky turn in Coronation Street when a £50,000 demand from Alya Nazir leaves him desperately searching for a way to find the money.

Alya makes it clear that she wants £50,000 for her share of the restaurant, but Idris quickly discovers he is £15,000 short. Rather than giving up on the deal, he begins looking for another way to bridge the gap and soon sees an opportunity involving Ollie.

After learning that Ollie knows his way around a poker table, Idris comes up with an audacious plan. He arranges a private game at Speed Daal and asks Ollie to take part, but this will be far from an ordinary night of cards.

Idris intends to rig the game in Ollie’s favour. He offers to provide the money for Ollie to play with and promises that, once Ollie wins, he can keep a share of the cash while Idris uses the remainder towards his Speed Daal ambitions.

The stakes become much more personal when Idris puts £5,000 borrowed from Leanne Battersby into the plan. Leanne believes she has simply helped her boyfriend financially, with no idea that her money is about to become part of a secret poker scheme.

Idris appears confident because he believes the result has already been engineered. In his mind, Leanne’s cash is never really in danger, but that confidence depends on every part of the plan working exactly as intended and nobody discovering what he has arranged.

Brody and Lauren help prepare the restaurant for the private game, although Lauren overhears Idris giving Ollie instructions about how the night is supposed to unfold. Kit Green and Fiona Middleton are among those who later take their places at the table, while Idris watches closely from the sidelines.

As players begin dropping out, the game eventually comes down to Ollie and Fiona. Idris may have expected the night to be carefully controlled, but seeing Fiona become Ollie’s final opponent leaves plenty riding on the outcome.

Ollie ultimately claims victory, apparently giving Idris the result he wanted. However, winning the poker game does not mean Idris has escaped the consequences of the decisions he has made to get there.

His determination to buy into Speed Daal has now involved a rigged game, a secret arrangement with Ollie and thousands of pounds belonging to Leanne. Idris may be closer to finding the money Alya wants, but keeping his methods hidden could prove much harder than winning at the poker table.
