Coronation Street Fiona Puts Idris’ Rigged Poker Plan at Risk
Idris thinks his poker scheme is under control, but Fiona becomes Ollie’s final opponent as his risky Speed Daal plan reaches a tense showdown.
Idris Sharma’s carefully planned poker scheme is set to face a tense final test in Coronation Street when Fiona Middleton becomes the last player standing between Ollie and the money Idris desperately needs.
Idris has already been pushed into taking a huge risk after Alya Nazir tells him she wants £50,000 for her share of Speed Daal. With Idris still £15,000 short, he decides that an ordinary attempt to raise the money will not be enough and turns instead to a private poker game.
After discovering Ollie is an experienced player, Idris asks him to become part of the plan. The arrangement is simple on paper: Idris provides the money, Ollie plays the game, and the pair split the winnings if everything goes their way.
The biggest issue is that Idris is not relying on luck. He intends for the game to be manipulated in Ollie’s favour, allowing him to believe the money he has put into the night is relatively safe.
That confidence becomes particularly important because £5,000 of the cash involved has been borrowed from Leanne Battersby, who has no idea what Idris is planning to do with it.
As the private game gets underway at Speed Daal, Kit Green and Fiona are among those taking their places around the table. Idris watches closely as players begin to drop out, knowing that the entire scheme depends on Ollie reaching the end.
Eventually, that is exactly what happens, but there is still one person left to beat.
Fiona remains in the game and becomes Ollie’s final opponent, turning the closing stages into a much more uncomfortable prospect for Idris. He may believe the night has been set up in Ollie’s favour, but until the final hand is played, there is still plenty riding on the outcome.
For Idris, it is about much more than winning a poker game. His Speed Daal ambitions, the money borrowed from Leanne and his secret arrangement with Ollie are all tied to what happens at the table.
Ollie eventually wins, seemingly giving Idris the result he has been hoping for, but the victory does not bring the clean ending he might have expected.
While Idris has been focused on the cards, other problems have been developing around him. Lauren Bolton has overheard some of his instructions, while Brody Michaelis has been secretly drinking during the night, creating two potential complications that Idris has not fully accounted for.
The poker result may fall in Idris’s favour, but the fact that so many people have now been drawn into the scheme leaves his secret increasingly vulnerable.
Fiona may ultimately lose the final showdown with Ollie, yet her determination at the table ensures Idris has to watch his supposedly controlled plan go right down to the wire. Winning the money is one thing, but keeping the truth about how he got it hidden could prove much harder.
