Coronation Street Adam Confronts Kit Over Harry Crisis
Adam challenges Kit as Harry struggles without Sarah, raising fresh questions over who can give the youngster the stability he desperately needs.
Harry Platt’s difficult time without Sarah is set to create fresh tension in Coronation Street as Adam Barlow becomes increasingly concerned about how the youngster is coping. With Sarah behind bars and unable to care for her son herself, attention turns to the people around Harry and whether he is getting the stability he needs during an already upsetting period.
Harry has been struggling with Sarah’s absence, and his behaviour begins causing concern as the effects of her imprisonment become increasingly difficult to ignore. The youngster has been forced to deal with a huge change to his everyday life, while Sarah remains unable to step in and reassure him from inside prison.
Kit has become one of the people attempting to support Harry, but Adam is far from convinced that things are working. When concerns over Harry’s behaviour come to a head, Adam challenges Kit over what has been happening and questions whether enough is being done to help Sarah’s son.
The confrontation places Kit in another difficult position at a time when Sarah’s prison ordeal is already pulling him back into her life. He has been approached over Kacey’s demands inside prison, while outside he is also having to face the impact Sarah’s absence is having on Harry.
Adam’s concern appears to be focused firmly on what Harry needs rather than the complicated history between Sarah and Kit. With the youngster already unsettled, Adam believes more stability may be necessary and raises the possibility of Harry staying with him for the remainder of the holidays.
That suggestion could represent a significant change for Harry while Sarah remains in prison. Although those around him are trying to support him, the disruption to his home life has clearly taken a toll, and Adam appears determined to make sure the youngster has somewhere secure and familiar to stay.
Kit is left feeling guilty about the situation, particularly as questions are raised over whether he has managed to give Harry the support he needs. His connection with Sarah means he cannot simply ignore what is happening, but his responsibilities as a police officer and his own complicated relationship with the family leave him trying to manage several difficult situations at once.
The timing of Adam’s intervention could become even more important because Sarah has another reason to fear for Harry. Fellow inmate Kacey has already brought Sarah’s son into her threats after failing to get the police help she wants for her own child, leaving Sarah terrified about what could happen while she remains unable to reach him.
Adam does not need to know the full extent of Sarah’s fears to recognise that Harry is struggling. His willingness to question the current arrangements and offer another option could therefore give the youngster some much-needed stability at a moment when Sarah has very little control over what is happening outside prison.
There is also the question of how Harry himself will respond to another possible change. Being separated from Sarah is already difficult enough, and moving between the adults trying to look after him could add further uncertainty even when everyone involved believes they are acting in his best interests.
For Kit, Adam’s challenge forces him to confront the emotional consequences of Sarah’s imprisonment rather than simply the practical problems surrounding her case. Harry is no longer just someone caught on the edges of Sarah’s storyline, with his welfare becoming increasingly important as the pressure surrounding the family grows.
Adam’s decision to step forward could prove vital if Sarah’s fears about Harry intensify. While Sarah remains trapped behind bars and Kacey continues applying pressure, having another trusted adult focused entirely on Harry’s wellbeing may become more important than ever.
