Coronation Street 11 to 16 October Sarah takes the stand

Sarah Barlow’s trial gets under way in Coronation Street as the Platts face a difficult week involving Kit’s breast cancer diagnosis and Bethany’s reaction to discovering the truth.

Bethany Platt and Todd Grimshaw visit Sarah, who admits that she understands Kit’s decision not to help her.

Todd then blurts out that Kit has breast cancer, leaving Bethany horrified and Sarah reeling from the news.

At the hospital, Kit finds support from Bernie as they talk about stories from his childhood. He prepares for his first chemotherapy session as Brody arrives to see him.

Sarah’s trial then begins, with Todd taking the stand and defending her.

Bethany later becomes upset and hurries out of the courtroom before returning home and putting pressure on Kit to do the right thing, while Sarah eventually takes the stand herself to give evidence.

Elsewhere, trouble erupts at the bistro after Tracy furiously accuses Leanne of poisoning her family with undercooked food.

Idris fields complaints from angry customers suffering from food poisoning, while Ollie conducts a full inspection of the kitchen and discovers that all the meat served the previous night was past its sell-by date.

Leanne realises Nick was responsible for the delivery, raising the question of whether it was an honest mistake or whether he could be sabotaging the business.

Nick later reveals they can no longer afford their meat supplier and have been reduced to buying meat from Freshco, prompting Leanne to suggest cutting their losses and selling the business.

Toyah then confronts Leanne with a very different theory. She claims she has worked out that Leanne and Idris are trying to sabotage the bistro so they can buy it for a knock-down price, while Idris later winds Nick up at Speed Daal by suggesting his relationship with Sam and his business are both on their knees.

Debbie also becomes suspicious after seeing Ronnie talking to Ryan at the Chariot Square.

Ronnie has thanked Ryan for finding work for Debbie and keeping her busy, but Debbie senses they are discussing her and later tells Abi she is convinced Ronnie is seeing somebody else and planning to put her in a care home.

Abi then spots Ronnie in Victoria Garden with his arms around another woman.

Elsewhere, Ross returns from the local boxing gym and suggests to Tyrone that they should go every week, only to be left annoyed when Tyrone turns him down.

With Sarah facing the courtroom, Kit preparing for treatment and serious questions surrounding both Debbie and the bistro, it is set to be another eventful week in Weatherfield.
