Wentworth: Halfway Home has introduced another new face, with Yorkshire-born actress Sophie Lowe joining the cast as Sam.
The announcement was shared through BINGE’s Instagram page today, where returning Wentworth star Kate Box helped introduce Lowe to fans ahead of the new series.
Lowe joins returning favourites Katrina Milosevic as Boomer Jenkins, Nicole da Silva as Franky Doyle and Kate Box as Lou Kelly. Rachel Griffiths has also joined the new series as newcomer Moira.
Who is Sophie Lowe?
Sophie Lowe was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, before moving to Australia with her family when she was young.
Her breakthrough came with the acclaimed Australian film Beautiful Kate, where she starred alongside Rachel Griffiths, Bryan Brown and Ben Mendelsohn.
Lowe’s performance earned her an AACTA nomination for Best Lead Actress and helped establish her career in Australian film and television.
There is also a Halfway Home reunion hidden within the new casting. Griffiths and Lowe will now be part of the same production again years after appearing together in Beautiful Kate.
What has Sophie Lowe been in?
Lowe has built an extensive acting career across television and film.
Her credits include The Slap, The Beautiful Lie, Above Suspicion, Blow the Man Down and historical drama Medieval.
International viewers may also recognise her as Alice from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, while she appeared in supernatural drama The Returned.
Lowe also starred opposite Louisa Krause in survival thriller The Dive. The production required both actresses to become certified scuba divers, with much of the film involving underwater work.

Lowe will play Sam, one of the residents of Sal’s Halfway House.
Sam is described as a people pleaser whose obsession following the end of a relationship eventually led to a break in and assault.
She is now on parole and has found some stability at the halfway house, although her past appears likely to remain part of her story.
For UK viewers, the arrival of a Sheffield-born actress in one of Australia’s biggest television franchises gives the new series another interesting British connection.
Wentworth: Halfway Home is currently in production in Melbourne and is due to premiere on BINGE and Foxtel in Australia in late 2026. UK broadcast and streaming details have not yet been announced.
