Nine Artists Create New AI Animated Horror Series The Sentinels

A team of just nine artists has created a new supernatural animated horror series using AI-assisted production technology, with The Sentinels now available to watch on YouTube following its premiere on Friday 30 October 2026.

The project, developed through Studio Jadu, offers another example of how filmmakers are experimenting with artificial intelligence to produce original entertainment without the resources normally associated with a large animation studio. Rather than relying entirely on automated generation, the production company says its technology was used alongside human-led storytelling, character design and creative direction.

Created by horror author Ajinkya Bhasme, the series follows a group of travellers whose illegal expedition to a remote island becomes a terrifying struggle for survival.

How Nine Artists Created The Sentinels Using AI

Directors Nitin Burli and Sree Lakshmi worked alongside supervising creative Ruchir Joshi to develop the series using Studio Jadu's AI-powered production platform, AIDA.

The technology supported the creation of animated sequences featuring watercolour-inspired backgrounds, painted fire effects and distinctive character designs influenced by Japanese animation.

Studio Jadu says the nine artists involved were responsible for shaping the story, characters, performances and visual direction, with AI tools assisting the production process rather than determining its creative decisions.

The project raises interesting questions about how smaller creative teams could use emerging technology to develop animated entertainment, particularly when traditional production requires substantial budgets and large numbers of specialist artists.

What Is The Sentinels About?

Set during Christmas 2004 in the Andaman Sea, the fictional story follows a group of strangers travelling towards North Sentinel Island, a real location whose Indigenous inhabitants have remained largely isolated from outside contact.

Their captain gives the passengers two warnings before they reach their destination. They must never light a fire or interact with anything they encounter on the island.

When one passenger ignores those instructions, the ferry is destroyed, leaving the survivors stranded in a hostile forest where an ancient supernatural force appears to feed on their fears and guilt.

Among them is Shuki, a photographer haunted by a death from her past, whose camera may reveal frightening details that the other survivors cannot see.

Although the series uses a real island as its setting, the supernatural events and characters are fictional.

Where Can You Watch The Sentinels?

The opening release, titled Greed, Betrayal, and Death on North Sentinel Island, combines the first three episodes into one continuous viewing experience.

The extended premiere is available through Studio Jadu's official YouTube channel, alongside further instalments and other original productions created using the company's animation technology.
