t its heart are chief detective Alea Sorn and forensic psychologist Nera Vey, two women drawn to each other despite their differences, as they investigate a murder surrounded by secrets and unanswered questions.

We spoke to creator Carolin about the inspiration behind the series, the challenges of creating videos with AI, the response from viewers and what they can expect from Season 2.

How would you introduce Traust du mir? to someone discovering it for the first time?

Imagine falling in love with a fascinating woman, only to discover more and more things that don't add up. Her memories are fragmented. She does things she shouldn't possibly be capable of. There are dark secrets buried in her past. And on top of all that, you have to solve a murder case together with this woman — a case where nothing is quite what it seems. Would you trust her?

“Traust du mir?” (“Do You Trust Me?”) is an AI-generated WLW thriller series that blends crime, psychological suspense, and a passionate enemies-to-lovers romance. A story in which the most dangerous question isn't who the killer is, but who you can really trust.

What inspired you to combine crime, thriller and WLW romance?

Among other things, I'm a novelist, and I've written books that bring together exactly these elements: the passion of a great love story and the suspense of a danger lurking beneath the surface.

It's an explosive combination that I love because it awakens such powerful, fundamental emotions in us. And then there's another unsettling question: Can we really trust our own perceptions and memories? Alea and Nera are confronted with all of this in ways that are both painfully beautiful and beautifully painful.

Can you tell us about the main women and their relationship?

Alea Sorn and Nera Vey are two strong personalities who are simultaneously repelled by their differences and irresistibly drawn to each other. Alea is a chief detective, analytical, conscientious, and focused on facts.

Nera is a forensic psychologist specializing in memory reconstruction, guided more by intuition and emotion. Friction is inevitable! It was important to me to create mature female characters with their own quirks, flaws, and even a few wrinkles — women who meet each other as equals. They're undoubtedly beautiful, but they're anything but perfect.

What's been the biggest challenge of creating the series with AI?

Phew, where do I even start?

Creating videos with AI is like opening a mystery box: you never quite know what you're going to get. Sometimes the result makes you want to laugh or cry. Other times, you get a scene that sends shivers down your spine. Yes, it's challenging, and we're still a long way from perfection.

Character consistency, dialogue (and in German, no less, OMG!), continuity between scenes… there's a lot to deal with. But it gets a little better every day, and it's an incredible amount of fun.

When I'm creating videos, I experience the same thing I do when I'm writing: I get completely carried away. And even though storytelling on social media works differently from storytelling in a book, the ultimate goal is the same: to tell a story that captivates people and touches their hearts.

Is there a particular episode or scene you're especially proud of?

It's the little things that make me happy. A facial expression that captures exactly the emotion I had in mind. A perfectly executed gesture. A shot that hits just the right note I'm particularly fond of the tender moments between Nera and Alea - scenes that radiate sensuality without being explicit.

An intimate kiss, a gentle touch, a smile. But I also love the jealousy scenes, especially the opening of Episode 4. Alea's smile freezes when she sees Nera and Joris together and completely misreads the situation. And that just adds fuel to the fire!

How has the audience responded to the series so far?

The reactions have ranged from “The most beautiful couple of the year!” to “I don't understand a thing!” So pretty much everything you can imagine. But the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

One question that keeps coming up is whether the German dialogue could be translated. That's something I'll definitely be thinking about for the next season: Could a German series actually be in English when more than 80% of its audience doesn't speak German? It would certainly save me a lot of nerves and a lot of credits during video generation!

Without spoilers, what can viewers look forward to next?

Here's one thing I can reveal: The suspense is growing and so is the love! With plenty of complications, of course.

While Season 1 was primarily about solving a murder, Season 2 will focus much more on what Nera is hiding - perhaps without even being aware of it herself.

How is she able to overpower men who are physically much stronger than she is?

Why do so many people around her seem to end up dead?

Things are going to get thrilling (and spicy), I promise!

Ideally, I'd love to bring the series to every platform, build a strong community, and publish a book alongside it. But like so many creatives, I'm limited by time, because financially, I can only pursue this project alongside my regular work.

My dream is to produce longer episodes and much more bonus content. I want to draw viewers into a story that becomes part of their everyday lives - something they can get excited about, lose themselves in, and dream about.
