Who’s joining Boomer in Wentworth Halfway Home as nine new stars are announced?
Wentworth: Halfway Home announces nine new cast members joining Boomer, Franky and Lou as the Australian prison drama prepares for its return.
Wentworth: Halfway Home has revealed nine more cast members, giving fans another reason to get excited about the return of the Australian prison drama.
The announcement comes five years after the original Wentworth aired its final episode on 26 October 2021. The new series will reunite several familiar faces while introducing a fresh group of characters whose lives become connected to Sal’s Halfway House.
Nine more stars join Wentworth Halfway Home
Nadine Garner, Elaine Crombie, Grace Chow, Sara West, Claude Jabbour, Dan Henshall, Laura Gordon, Thom Green and Chika Ikogwe have all joined the cast.
The latest additions bring experience from some of Australia’s biggest television productions, including Heartbreak High, Neighbours, Last King of the Cross and The Survivors.
Garner, known for The Doctor Blake Mysteries, has also spoken about joining the franchise after watching friends and colleagues work on the original series for years.
She described becoming part of the new chapter as an opportunity she had never imagined, expressing her excitement about continuing a story that has attracted such a loyal audience.
The nine actors join previously announced newcomers Rachel Griffiths, Sophie Lowe, Alex King and Chenile Chandler. Character details for the latest arrivals have not yet been revealed, leaving fans with plenty to discover when the series begins.

Boomer faces a fresh fight outside prison
Katrina Milosevic returns as Susan ‘Boomer’ Jenkins, with Nicole da Silva reprising her role as Franky Doyle and Kate Box returning as Lou Kelly.
The sequel follows Boomer after her release on parole as she moves into Sal’s Halfway House, hoping to rebuild her life and regain custody of her daughter.
However, her plans are threatened when a body is discovered, leaving Boomer questioning who she can trust among the former prisoners sharing her new home.
Unlike the original series, which largely unfolded behind the walls of Wentworth Correctional Centre, Halfway Home explores what happens when former inmates attempt to build a future on the outside.
That shift offers a different direction for the franchise, particularly for Boomer, whose journey through the original series made her one of its most popular characters.
Five years since Wentworth ended
The timing of the announcement is particularly significant, arriving around the fifth anniversary of the original show’s conclusion.
Since Wentworth ended in 2021, the drama has maintained an international following, with audiences continuing to revisit its characters and discuss the possibility of further stories.
The return of Boomer, Franky and Lou gives existing viewers familiar faces to reconnect with, while the growing ensemble suggests that Halfway Home intends to establish its own identity rather than simply revisit the past.
