Nicola Nicoletti's creator reveals ambitions to take AI pop star into films

AI-generated pop star Nicola Nicoletti could be moving beyond music, with the creator behind the virtual performer developing ideas for short films that would place the character in entirely different stories. The plans could see Nicola taking on fictional roles that have little connection to the romantic pop star audiences have come to know.

Speaking exclusively to SoapLandTV, Nicola's creator revealed that several ideas are being explored, including one that would take the character in a completely different direction. The projects are still at an early stage, but the creator is already experimenting with ways to bring Nicola into new fictional settings.

"I'm currently fleshing out a few ideas for short films. One is a complete departure from the Nicola we know and the others are a bit less of a departure, but still nothing like we've seen Nicola do before."

Taking Nicola beyond music

Until now, Nicola has existed primarily through original songs and music videos, with his fictional personality built around love, relationships and emotional pop music. The creator now wants to explore whether the character could work in stories unrelated to his established musical identity.

"He currently exists in his own layer of fiction, but I’d like to see him inhabit a secondary layer of fiction. Still Nicola, but telling stories that aren’t his own and aren’t necessarily based on his music."

The idea is to develop Nicola as a character who can exist within different fictional settings, rather than simply appearing as himself in music videos. Although the short films remain at an early stage, the creator has already begun experimenting with some of the techniques needed to bring those ambitions to life.

One of those experiments features in the music video for Perfecto Está de Más, the Spanish version of Perfect's Overrated. For the first time, Nicola will be shown interacting with other characters and the world around him, with spoken dialogue incorporated into the video.

Creating those scenes has introduced fresh challenges, particularly when it comes to writing natural conversations, maintaining consistent voices and accents, and getting the delivery of individual lines right. Sound design has also become an important part of the process as the creator explores how to make Nicola's fictional world feel more believable.

New music arrives on 30 October

Before any potential move into short films, Nicola is preparing to release Resonance: Volume One on Friday 30 October 2026. The project features 13 reimagined songs inspired by musical traditions including French chanson, bolero and fado, alongside a bonus track previously released only in Spanish and now presented in English.

The release also provides an opportunity to see how Nicola's visual world is developing, particularly through the Perfecto Está de Más video. While the creator has yet to confirm any short-film productions, these early experiments suggest that the character's future could extend well beyond recording music.
