Love, relationships and connection: Inside the stories Océane Terrettaz wants to tell
Océane Terrettaz reveals why love, relationships, compassion and human connection remain central to the AI stories she wants to create.
For Océane Terrettaz, the strongest ideas are often the ones rooted in something people can immediately recognise: love, connection, loneliness and the complicated emotions that sit between them.
Those themes appear repeatedly across the kind of stories she wants to create, but Océane does not see herself as tied to one particular subject. What matters more is finding an idea that creates an emotional response and then building a story around it.
“I also want to keep creating stories about love and relationships, as well as stories involving animals, because I don’t want to limit myself to one particular theme.”
That freedom is important to the way Océane approaches AI storytelling. Rather than building a fixed identity around one genre, she wants each new project to begin with the subject itself and the feeling she wants to explore.
Love and relationships naturally offer plenty of space for that. They can be romantic, complicated, hopeful or painful, but they also allow smaller moments to carry just as much weight as dramatic ones.
Human connection is another subject that continues to interest her. One of her most personal projects explored loneliness through a woman experiencing ordinary moments alone before a simple interaction with another woman opened the possibility of something new.
It showed how little is sometimes needed to change the emotional direction of a story. A look, a gesture or simply being noticed can carry meaning without needing a large amount of dialogue or explanation.
That understated approach fits particularly well with the cinematic style Océane is building. Her stories often rely on atmosphere and visual emotion, allowing characters and situations to communicate feelings before anything is explicitly said.
The themes she wants to explore next also extend beyond romance. Burnout, the influence and pressure of social media, compassion and wider emotional issues are all subjects she is interested in bringing into future work.
That gives Océane’s work room to move between personal relationships and wider social experiences without losing the emotional focus that connects them.
It also means audiences should not expect every project to look or feel the same. One story may centre on love, another could examine isolation or social pressure, while another may involve animals or a completely different emotional situation.
“So people can expect different stories from me, but emotion will always remain at the heart of what I create.”
That is ultimately the thread connecting Océane’s work. The subjects may change, but the aim remains consistent: create a story that begins with a feeling and leaves the audience with one too.
