Is Mack Leaving Emmerdale Temporarily as Vanity Grows Closer?

Could Mackenzie Boyd temporarily step away from Emmerdale while Lawrence Robb takes part in Strictly Come Dancing, and might that leave Charity Dingle and Vanessa Woodfield becoming closer again? Nothing has been confirmed, but recent scenes have given fans an intriguing theory to consider.

Lawrence is due to take part in Strictly soon, although there has been no announcement that Mack is leaving Emmerdale permanently or temporarily. Even so, viewers are naturally wondering whether the character could have a short period away from the village while Lawrence takes on the BBC competition.

The timing is interesting because Mack and Charity’s marriage has come under fresh pressure following Caitlin Todd’s death. Charity was arrested in connection with Caitlin’s death, spent the night in police custody and was questioned again before eventually being released.

Behind closed doors, Mack then pushed Charity to tell him what had really happened. He confronted her with the words: “You did it deliberately, didn’t you? You meant to kill Todd,” making clear just how disturbed he was by what Charity had admitted.

Charity acknowledged that she had intended to kill Caitlin, while Mack warned that if he could see something was wrong, the police could potentially realise the same thing. His reaction has left fans wondering whether what Charity has done could eventually become too much for their marriage.

Some viewers online are already questioning whether Mack could ultimately walk away from Charity after learning she deliberately intended to kill Caitlin. If the couple did spend some time apart, it could also provide Emmerdale with a straightforward explanation for a short Mack absence while Lawrence appears on Strictly, although that remains purely a theory.

At the same time, Vanessa has been showing Charity plenty of support. Vanessa has now given her own statement to police over Caitlin’s death, and she was seen leaving the station just as Serena arrived to give hers.

Later, when Charity returned to the village following her release from custody, Vanessa was coming out of the shop and immediately rushed over when she saw Charity arriving by car. The pair shared an emotional hug before Vanessa asked whether Charity was okay, with Charity admitting that she was “not really”.

Vanessa later worried that her own confrontation with Caitlin could somehow have contributed to what followed. Charity quickly reassured her, telling Vanessa: “No, Ness, no. This is not your fault.”

Those scenes have brought Charity and Vanessa’s former relationship, known to fans as Vanity, firmly back into discussion online. Viewers have noticed Vanessa becoming increasingly involved in Charity’s current storyline and have questioned whether their renewed emotional closeness could eventually develop into something more.

There is nothing yet to suggest that Emmerdale has confirmed a Vanity reunion, and Vanessa supporting Charity during a traumatic period does not automatically mean romance is returning. Likewise, Lawrence appearing on Strictly does not mean Mack will necessarily disappear from the village at all.

However, the circumstances make the theory interesting. Mack is struggling with the knowledge that Charity deliberately intended to kill Caitlin, while Vanessa is becoming an increasingly supportive presence around Charity during one of the most difficult periods of her life.

If Mack does decide that Charity’s actions are something he cannot accept, could he temporarily leave the village and give their marriage some space? And if that happened, could Charity and Vanessa find themselves becoming even closer while he is away?

For now, Mack remains part of Charity’s story and no temporary departure or Vanity reunion has been announced. However, with Mack deeply troubled by Charity’s admission and Vanessa once again firmly by her side, fans online have plenty of reason to wonder whether Charity’s relationships could be heading in a very different direction.
