Icebreaker brings Ana and Noémie closer after storm leaves them stranded
A violent Arctic storm leaves Ana and Noémie stranded ashore, where one hotel room and an honest conversation bring them closer.
Ana and Noémie’s latest trip ashore begins with playful teasing, but ends with a conversation that could define their growing relationship. After Noémie laughs at Ana’s choice of clothing, the pair prepare to return to Polaris with the rest of the team.
The Zodiac is too full to carry everyone, so Ana agrees to remain behind while Noémie completes her interview with a local fisherman. Ana insists on accompanying her to the dock, making it clear that she is not prepared to leave Noémie unattended again.
During the interview, the fisherman explains the importance of hunting, fishing and respecting the land. He then notices that Ana and Noémie are both wearing wedding rings and assumes they are married. Their rushed explanations only lead him to conclude that they must be in a new relationship, creating an awkward moment neither woman knows quite how to handle.
The mood changes when Ana notices a threatening line of clouds. Her instincts prove correct when Polaris reports sustained winds of 45 knots and gusts reaching 60 knots. The Zodiac has returned safely to the ship, but it cannot be sent back for them.
Ana orders the crew to remain aboard and secure the deck. With the weather expected to last for days, she and Noémie begin searching for accommodation in the village.
One room and one bed
The local hotel has been filled by visitors attending a bingo night at the community hall. Only one room remains, leaving Ana and Noémie with little choice but to share it.
Noémie quickly notices that Ana appears more nervous about the room than she had been during their helicopter emergency. Ana denies it, but the tension only increases when they discover there is also just one bed.
Their attempts to settle in bring some much needed humour. They argue over which side of the bed belongs to whom, struggle through a conversation about ordering Arctic char and accidentally turn the smell of fish into an unexpectedly suggestive exchange.
Beneath the awkwardness, Ana remains worried about Polaris. She blames herself for staying ashore and believes she should have anticipated the change in weather. Noémie reminds her that Sophie is in charge and asks whether she trusts her. Ana admits that she does, although being separated from her ship during a storm still leaves her deeply uncomfortable.
After Ana showers and changes out of uniform, Noémie has to remind herself not to make an already difficult situation harder. Her attraction to the captain is obvious, but she recognises that Ana is nervous and may not be ready to take their relationship further.
Later, as they share the bed, Noémie reassures Ana that being stranded together does not mean anything has to happen. She admits that she wants her, but refuses to let Ana feel pressured into intimacy before she is comfortable.
It is a patient and surprisingly tender moment. Noémie makes it clear that what matters is not simply being close to Ana, but knowing that Ana genuinely wants and enjoys whatever happens between them.
