Home and Away’s Mackenzie Breaks Down At Salt

Mackenzie Booth will make an emotional return to Home and Away as she and Levi Fowler attempt to reconnect with life outside their farmhouse.

The couple have been largely absent from Summer Bay while grieving the loss of their baby. They have spent several weeks together at the farmhouse, giving themselves space away from work, friends and the daily demands of life in the Bay.

However, reminders from the hospital and Salt make it clear that neither of them can remain isolated indefinitely. Levi suggests that they take a gentle first step by walking along the beach and making a brief visit to the restaurant.

Mackenzie Returns To Salt

Mackenzie and Levi receive a warm welcome when they arrive at the Surf Club.

Their friends are pleased to see them again, but Mackenzie soon notices that Eden Fowler appears distracted when she asks about Eden’s relationship with Cash Newman. Mackenzie encourages Eden to go home and offers to cover the bar for a couple of hours.

Levi worries that Mackenzie may be taking on too much so soon, but she quickly settles back into the familiar routine. Mackenzie admits that she has missed working at Salt, and for a brief period her return appears to be going well.

The restaurant has long been an important part of Mackenzie’s life. Returning to work offers her a chance to regain some structure after weeks dominated by grief.

A Painful Discovery Changes The Day

Mackenzie’s confidence disappears when she enters the storeroom and discovers the baby shower scrapbook Abigail Fowler prepared before the loss.

The scrapbook contains plans and ideas connected to the future Mackenzie and Levi believed they would share with their baby. Finding it unexpectedly proves overwhelming.

Levi later finds Mackenzie sitting on the storeroom floor in tears. She admits that returning to Salt was too much and that she had tried to resume work before she was ready.

Mackenzie Defends Abigail

Levi initially blames Abigail for leaving the scrapbook at Salt, believing that its presence caused Mackenzie unnecessary pain.

Mackenzie refuses to allow him to hold Abigail responsible. She recognises that nobody deliberately placed the scrapbook there to upset her and accepts that she was not yet prepared for everything returning to Salt might bring.

The moment also shows a difference in how Mackenzie and Levi are processing their loss. Levi wants to protect Mackenzie and direct his anger towards someone, while Mackenzie understands that the scrapbook represents the love and excitement their family felt before the tragedy.

Levi Extends His Time Away From Work

The following day, Levi speaks to Amelia Carlisle about his position at Northern Districts Hospital.

Amelia agrees to continue covering for him, allowing Levi to extend his leave and remain at the farmhouse with Mackenzie. His decision confirms that neither of them is ready to return fully to their previous routine.

Back at home, Mackenzie makes the decision not to throw the scrapbook away. Instead, she places it alongside the other keepsakes from her pregnancy.

As Mackenzie and Levi look through Abigail’s ideas, Levi struggles with the future they had imagined. Mackenzie tells him that they have already lost enough and should not also lose the happier memories connected to the pregnancy.

Mackenzie And Levi Face Their Grief Together

Mackenzie’s return to Salt ends painfully, but the experience helps the couple acknowledge that grief cannot be managed according to a fixed timetable.
