Home and Away’s Zane wants to use his first wages to repay Marilyn for everything she has done, but she has a very different idea for the money.
Zane’s first proper wages create an emotional moment in Home and Away when his immediate thought is not about himself but about repaying Marilyn. After everything she has done to support his fresh start, Zane wants to contribute towards the household rather than celebrate his own milestone.
Leah tells Zane that his first pay will soon arrive in his bank account. Instead of excitedly planning a purchase, Zane is unsure what he is supposed to do with money that is finally his to spend.
His first instinct is to help Marilyn with the cost of groceries. The gesture shows how conscious Zane remains of the support he has received and how uncomfortable he can be with the idea of simply accepting help without giving something back.
