Home and Away Zane moves in with Marilyn as Alf tension looms
Home and Away’s Zane gets another chance after Marilyn moves him into her home, but his biggest concern is whether Alf really wants him there.
Zane’s return to Summer Bay comes with a major new living arrangement in Home and Away as Marilyn decides he should move into the house rather than return to the caravan park. It is the strongest sign yet that Marilyn is determined to stand by him, but Zane immediately senses the arrangement could create fresh tension with Alf.
After being found scavenging for food and needing hospital treatment for a cut, Zane finally admits why he disappeared. He believed his presence was damaging Marilyn’s life and convinced himself that staying away was the only way to stop causing more problems.
Marilyn refuses to let him carry that guilt alone. She reminds Zane that supporting him has always been her decision and makes him promise not to disappear again whenever things become difficult.
Her next move makes that promise far harder for Zane to break. Marilyn decides he should leave the caravan and move into the house, where she can make sure he has somewhere stable to stay and is properly cared for.
Zane is immediately uneasy because he knows Alf has never been as quick to trust him as Marilyn. Living nearby is one thing, but moving directly into Alf’s home could force both men into a level of closeness neither has chosen.
Marilyn insists Alf will be completely fine with the arrangement, but Zane’s doubts are understandable. Alf has already admitted that he judged Zane too quickly, yet that does not necessarily mean all of his concerns have disappeared.
The move therefore creates an interesting new test for Zane’s second chance. He no longer has to prove himself from a distance because he will now be living alongside one of the people who has questioned him most.
For Marilyn, bringing Zane home is an act of compassion and commitment. For Zane, it may also become the moment he discovers whether Summer Bay is genuinely prepared to stop treating his past as the most important thing about him.
