Home and Away Zane impresses Leah but Alf still refuses to trust him
Home and Away’s Zane begins proving himself at the Diner, but his move into Alf’s home leaves one major question over whether he is truly accepted.
Zane finally begins settling into ordinary Summer Bay life in Home and Away, but the shadow of his past is still following him home. While Leah starts seeing a different side to him at the Diner, Alf remains far less comfortable with how quickly Marilyn has welcomed him into their lives.
Zane starts learning the ropes properly as Marilyn teaches him how to use the coffee machine. He quickly impresses Leah with his skills, giving him the chance to prove that the second opportunity he fought so hard for was worth taking.
The practical side of rebuilding his life soon becomes clear when Leah sits down with him to arrange employment paperwork. They discover Zane still needs basic things many people take for granted, including a bank account and email address.
Marilyn immediately steps in to help him navigate everything. Her support continues at home as she talks him through the process, determined to give him the tools needed to become properly independent.
Alf’s reaction is noticeably cooler. He has agreed to give Zane a fair chance and allowed him to move into the house, but he becomes impatient during the evening and heads to bed almost as soon as dinner is finished.
Zane notices the atmosphere even if Marilyn does not want to acknowledge it. He admits that he feels like his presence is making Alf uncomfortable in his own home and worries that Marilyn has been more optimistic about the arrangement than Alf actually feels.
Marilyn reassures him, but Zane knows acceptance cannot be forced. He may now have work, a place to live and practical support, yet Alf’s body language makes clear that trust is still something he will have to earn.
That creates a much more interesting test than outright rejection. Zane is finally being allowed to prove himself, but living under Alf’s roof means every ordinary day becomes another opportunity to either build confidence or confirm the fears that remain.
