Home and Away’s Tane confronts Sonny over Harper and Archie leaving Summer Bay, forcing Remi to step in before his anger spirals further.
Tane’s heartbreak over losing Archie turns into fury in Home and Away when he confronts Sonny and blames him for helping create the chain of events that drove Harper away. With Harper, Dana and Archie gone from Summer Bay, Tane is left looking for somewhere to direct the anger he can no longer contain
He arrives at Sonny’s house determined to confront him about what has happened. Sonny is already consumed by guilt and does little to defend himself, even goading Tane to hit him because he believes he deserves whatever punishment comes next.
Sonny admits he could not possibly hate himself any more than he already does. That self-loathing only makes the confrontation more volatile, because Tane is grieving the loss of everyday contact with Archie while Sonny has reached a point where he barely seems to care what happens to him.
Remi arrives at exactly the right moment and steps between them. He manages to calm Tane enough to stop the confrontation becoming physical and assures him that he will take responsibility for keeping an eye on Sonny.
Tane leaves, but the anger does not disappear. Mackenzie later checks on him and finds him spiralling over Harper’s decision to move Archie away, with Tane convinced Sonny played a major part in everything falling apart.
Mackenzie refuses to let him question his place in Archie’s life. She reminds Tane that he is an incredible father and insists that distance does not erase the bond he has built with the little boy.
The reassurance matters because Tane’s real fear is not simply about Sonny. He is terrified that Harper’s decision means Archie will gradually disappear from his life, no matter how much he wants to remain involved.
For now, Tane has to accept that protecting Archie was Harper’s priority. His relationship with Sonny may be badly damaged, but the more difficult challenge will be finding a way to remain Archie’s father figure from a distance.
