Home and Away Remi stunned by Eden news as he realises how much he missed

Remi receives an uncomfortable wake-up call in Home and Away when he discovers Eden has already been discharged from hospital and nobody told him. After becoming consumed with helping Sonny through his breakdown, Remi suddenly realises how much has happened in his best friend’s life without him.

Remi has just moved into Sonny’s place and is determined to help him rebuild. The pair work on Sonny’s CV, discuss rent and try to recreate some of the friendship they had when they previously worked together in music.

His attention has therefore been firmly focused on Sonny, particularly while Tane refuses to forgive him and the wider community remains wary. Remi believes his mate needs someone prepared to stay beside him while he faces the consequences of what happened.

When Remi and Sonny later head to the Surf Club, Mali gives them an update on Eden. He explains that doctors still have not found a suitable stem cell donor, but also reveals that Eden is no longer in hospital.

That detail catches Remi completely off guard. Eden is one of his closest friends, yet she has gone through another major stage of her illness without him even knowing. The discovery leaves Remi feeling seriously out of the loop and forces him to consider whether supporting Sonny has unintentionally pulled him away from someone else who desperately needs him.

The news becomes even harder when Levi is later confronted with questions from Remi, Mali and Sonny about becoming potential donors. All three want to know how testing works and whether there is anything practical they can do.

Levi encourages them to register, although he cannot promise any of them will become Eden’s match. His response emphasises just how little control Eden’s friends have over the medical battle, even when they are desperate to help.

For Remi, simply knowing what is happening may now become important again. His loyalty to Sonny has been admirable, but Eden’s illness has continued progressing while his attention was elsewhere.

The question is whether Remi can support both friends without losing sight of either. Eden’s discharge has reminded him that life has been moving quickly beyond Sonny’s crisis, and he may need to reconnect before more precious time passes.
