Home and Away Remi stands by Sonny despite everything
Home and Away’s Remi surprises Eden by standing by Sonny despite his drug dealing, insisting Beau is the person their anger should really target.
Remi makes it clear in Home and Away that he has not completely given up on Sonny, despite everything that has happened between them. After being violently attacked and left injured, Remi still believes Beau should carry the greatest share of their anger rather than Sonny.
Remi is recovering in hospital and talks to Cash about the assault. Although he cannot identify the men who attacked him because they placed a bag over his head, he remains certain that Beau arranged what happened.
Once Remi is well enough to leave hospital, he agrees to go to Salt so Eden can keep an eye on him. Their conversation soon turns back to Sonny and the role he played in the events that led to Remi being targeted.
Eden has very little sympathy for Sonny and is still angry about the consequences of his choices. From her perspective, Sonny’s involvement with the steroid operation helped create the situation that ultimately put Remi in hospital.
Remi takes a different view and argues that their anger should be directed towards Beau. Sonny made serious mistakes, but Remi clearly sees Beau as the person who escalated everything by using violence and intimidation.
That distinction matters because Remi had already confronted Sonny and refused to be his best man while he remained involved with Beau. He was prepared to draw a line, but that never meant he wanted to abandon his friend completely.
Sonny later arrives determined to convince Remi and Eden that he is going to make things right. Before he can say much, Remi stops him and reminds him that he is still there when Sonny needs him, just as he promised he would be.
The moment shows that Remi’s friendship with Sonny has survived even after betrayal, secrecy and violence. He may be disappointed in Sonny’s choices, but he is not prepared to treat him as beyond help.
For Sonny, that support could prove crucial as the consequences of his actions continue to build. His relationship with Dana is in serious trouble, he is facing police action and he is finally beginning to understand just how dangerous Beau really is.
Remi’s decision to stand by him does not excuse what Sonny has done. Instead, it gives Sonny a chance to prove that he is serious about taking responsibility and getting himself out of the situation he helped create.
