Home and Away Leah faces difficult decision over Zane

Leah is caught in an increasingly difficult position in Home and Away as Marilyn pushes her to give Zane work at the Diner while serious concerns continue to surround his past.

Marilyn becomes even more determined to support Zane after learning the truth about the crime that sent him to prison. Although the confession leaves her shaken, she believes he has served his sentence and should now be allowed the chance to rebuild his life.

Giving Zane work at the Diner becomes the next step in that support. Marilyn asks Leah to consider taking him on, hoping that a job could help him begin establishing himself properly in Summer Bay.

Leah is far less certain. She already has reservations about Zane, and Alf only adds to them when he quietly warns her to keep an eye on him.

Rather than make the decision based only on Marilyn and Alf’s very different views, Leah turns to David for another opinion. Knowing he is familiar with Zane’s history, she hopes he can offer a clearer idea of whether giving him work would be the right move.

David does not give Leah an easy answer. He acknowledges that Zane has served his time, but he also advises her to remain careful.

That leaves Leah trying to balance two very different responsibilities. She does not want to unfairly judge Zane forever for something he did as a teenager, but she also cannot ignore the concerns being raised by people she trusts.

Marilyn sees the situation in much simpler terms. For her, Zane has already been punished and now needs people willing to help him move forward rather than repeatedly place obstacles in his way.

Leah eventually tells Marilyn that the Diner roster is already too full to offer Zane a job. The decision leaves Marilyn devastated, particularly because she had hoped the Diner could give Zane the fresh start he needs.

For Leah, the refusal does not necessarily mean she believes Zane cannot change. It reflects how uncertain she still feels about taking responsibility for bringing him into the workplace when Alf and David have both urged caution.

The decision also risks creating a wider divide between Leah and Marilyn. Marilyn is firmly committed to helping Zane, while Leah is still trying to work out where compassion ends and caution begins.

For Zane, the rejection becomes another reminder that completing his sentence does not automatically mean the past will stop shaping his future.
