Home and Away Leah admits she got Zane badly wrong
Home and Away’s Leah admits she regrets judging Zane too quickly as Marilyn remains missing from the Diner and the fallout continues to grow.
Leah begins questioning her own treatment of Zane in Home and Away as the consequences of his disappearance continue to ripple through the Diner. With Marilyn still absent after their explosive fallout, Leah is forced to consider whether her caution turned into judgement before Zane ever had a fair chance.
The Diner feels noticeably different without Marilyn, and Leah admits to Alf that she misses having her there. Their friendship has been badly damaged by the argument over Zane, leaving Leah increasingly uncomfortable about how quickly everything escalated.
More significantly, Leah admits she may have judged Zane too soon. Her distrust played a major part in his difficult trial shift, particularly when she wrongly blamed him for a mistake that Marilyn had actually made.
Alf understands because he has reached a similar conclusion about his own behaviour. He was determined to protect Marilyn and remained suspicious of Zane, but even he now accepts that his judgement may have come too quickly.
That does not mean either of them suddenly knows whether Zane can be trusted completely. What has changed is the recognition that giving someone a second chance is impossible if every mistake is treated as proof that the past has returned.
Leah’s regret also comes too late to undo the immediate damage. Zane has disappeared, Marilyn is desperately worried about him and the Diner has lost one of the people who helped hold it together.
The situation leaves Leah with something more difficult than simply saying she was wrong. If Zane returns, she may have to prove that her attitude has genuinely changed rather than expecting both him and Marilyn to accept an apology and move on.
Marilyn believed from the beginning that Zane deserved the benefit of the doubt. Leah is now starting to understand why, but repairing the fallout may prove much harder than recognising the mistake that helped create it.
