Home and Away David removes wedding ring after heartbreaking confession

David makes one of his biggest emotional decisions yet in Home and Away when he removes his wedding ring for the first time since his wife died. The moment comes after his first kiss with Amelia forces him to confront the guilt that has been holding him back from allowing himself to move forward.

David is still shaken after abruptly leaving Amelia on the balcony following their kiss. When Jo tries to get details about the date, he avoids the questions and even changes his plans after seeing the place where the kiss happened

A chance encounter with Amelia at the Diner finally forces the conversation he has been avoiding. David apologises for running away and admits that his reaction had nothing to do with a lack of feelings for her.

Instead, David reveals that he still feels deeply connected to his late wife and struggles with the idea that beginning another relationship could somehow betray what they had. Amelia refuses to pressure him and tells David that he should contact her when he feels ready.

She also leaves him with a teasing reminder that the kiss itself was good until he suddenly disappeared. The exchange makes clear that Amelia remains interested, but she is not prepared to force David into taking a step he cannot emotionally handle.

Justin later gives David another perspective and asks whether he could genuinely be happy if he never allows himself to try moving on. The question leaves David facing the difference between remembering his wife and believing he must remain frozen in the life they once shared.

That night, David sits alone looking at a photograph of his late wife before turning his attention to his wedding ring. For the first time since her death, he takes it off.

Removing the ring does not erase his marriage or his grief, but it signals that David may finally be ready to consider a future that includes Amelia. The bigger challenge will be whether his daughters, particularly Lacey, are ready to watch him take that step too.
