Home and Away David gets shock second chance with Amelia

David gets an unexpected romantic lifeline in Home and Away when he discovers Amelia has not left Summer Bay after all. After believing he may have wasted his opportunity with her, one casual revelation from Justin completely changes the situation.

David has already struggled badly when it comes to expressing what he wants from Amelia. His insistence on friendship created distance between them, while Amelia’s decision to hand in her notice appeared to put an expiry date on any chance of their relationship becoming something more.

When David runs into Justin at the Coffee Cart, he admits his disappointment that Amelia has left the Bay. His reaction alone suggests her departure matters to him far more than the casual friendship he had previously tried to maintain.

Justin then delivers the news David was not expecting. Amelia is actually staying in Summer Bay, meaning the opportunity David thought he had missed has suddenly reopened.

The discovery gives David a chance to look at the situation very differently. Amelia has already made clear that she is attracted to him, meaning the uncertainty has largely come from David and whether he is genuinely ready to let someone back into his life.

Jo and Lacey have both questioned his handling of Amelia and noticed that his behaviour around her does not always match his insistence that they are only friends. Now David knows Amelia is still around, he no longer has the excuse of believing the opportunity has disappeared.

That does not mean their problems are automatically solved. Amelia has already been left frustrated by his mixed signals, so any attempt to move things forward will require David to be much clearer than he has been until now.

Still, the timing could hardly be better for someone finally beginning to understand what he might lose. David believed Amelia was gone, only to discover he has been handed another opportunity to show her what he actually wants.

The real question is whether he uses it. Amelia staying gives David more time, but after everything that has happened, another round of hesitation could be one chance too many.
