Home and Away David and Amelia finally admit they want more
Home and Away’s David and Amelia finally move beyond mixed signals as an awkward date ends with both admitting they want to keep seeing each other.
David and Amelia finally stop dancing around their feelings in Home and Away as their awkward barbecue turns into something far more promising. After weeks of mixed signals, rejection and almost losing their chance completely, both finally acknowledge that they want to see where the relationship can go.
David’s attempt at romance is hardly smooth. After arranging the barbecue largely as an excuse to spend time with Amelia, he eventually finds himself alone with her after Justin, Jo and Lacey deliberately make themselves scarce.
Even with the privacy he wanted, David still struggles to make the moment feel like an actual date. He brings out red wine just as Amelia needs to leave for work, and he is forced to admit that his attempt at romance has not exactly gone to plan.
Instead of allowing another awkward conversation to derail them, the pair begin laughing at themselves. They clean up together and bond over the fact that neither of them appears particularly gifted when it comes to communication or dating.
That honesty proves far more effective than any elaborate romantic gesture. David persuades Amelia to stay long enough for some pavlova, giving them the time they need to talk without everyone else watching.
Most importantly, David finally tells Amelia that he is ready to move forward. Amelia has already made clear that she will not waste time waiting for someone who cannot decide what he wants, so his change in attitude removes the biggest obstacle between them.
Justin later reports back to Leah that the entire barbecue was really David’s excuse to spend time with Amelia. They are amused that someone so confident in his professional life appears to have absolutely no idea what he is doing when romance is involved.
When Lacey and Justin return expecting to find David nursing another disaster, they instead discover him happy with how things went. Another date now looks very much on the cards, suggesting David and Amelia may finally have moved beyond the awkward beginning that nearly ended their story before it started.
