Home and Away Dana gives Sonny one final chance after devastating betrayal

Dana reaches a major decision over her future with Sonny in Home and Away as the couple finally confront the full scale of his deception. Sonny wants another chance, but Dana makes clear that simply apologising will not erase the fact he was prepared to begin their marriage with a lie.

Dana pushes Sonny to answer the question that matters most to her. If she had never overheard the truth about his involvement with drugs, would he ever actually have told her what was happening?

Sonny decides there can be no more half-truths and admits he hoped the answer would eventually be no. His plan had been to recover fully, stop taking drugs and leave Dana permanently unaware of what he had done.

That honesty lands like another betrayal because it confirms Sonny was not simply waiting for the right moment to confess. He had been imagining a future where Dana married him without ever knowing something that had affected their finances, friendships and lives.

Sonny also admits that the money he borrowed from Remi and even from Dana was being spent on drugs. For Dana, the revelation makes the deception even more personal because she unknowingly helped fund the secret that Sonny was keeping from her.

Remi later finds Dana and she apologises for not believing his warnings sooner. She opens up about her own complicated history with drugs and credits Harper with helping save her, giving Remi a reason to ask whether Sonny deserves the same opportunity to change.

That comparison clearly gives Dana something to think about. She eventually returns to Sonny and offers him one final chance, but only if the relationship is rebuilt around complete honesty.

Sonny promises he will never touch drugs again and will never lie to Dana again. Remi and Eden also pledge their support as he tries to move forward with his recovery, making clear that Sonny will not have to do it alone.

Dana has chosen not to walk away, but forgiveness does not mean everything has returned to normal. Sonny now has to prove that the promises he makes when everything is falling apart are promises he can actually keep once the immediate crisis has passed.
