Home and Away Dana discovers Sonny’s shocking steroid secret

Dana’s engagement happiness begins to collapse in Home and Away as she finally discovers that Sonny has been keeping a devastating secret about his involvement in Beau’s steroid operation. After repeatedly trusting Sonny’s explanations, Dana overhears a conversation that makes it impossible for him to keep the truth hidden much longer.

Dana initially runs into Remi at the Coffee Cart and proudly shows him her new engagement ring. Their conversation quickly shifts away from wedding excitement when Remi asks whether Sonny has told her anything about the recent raid at the gym.

Dana explains that she heard about the raid from Cash and says Sonny has not told her much more about it. Remi responds that he is not surprised before walking away, leaving Dana unsettled by the clear suggestion that Sonny is still keeping something from her.

She later confronts Sonny about Remi’s cryptic comment and wonders whether the tension between the two friends comes from Sonny still failing to tell police what he knows. Dana encourages him to resolve things with Remi, especially because she wants Sonny to ask his longtime friend to be his best man.

Sonny eventually heads to Salt and makes the request, asking Remi whether they can put their differences aside so he can stand beside him on the biggest day of his life. Remi refuses to agree until Sonny answers one direct question about whether he is still dealing steroids for Beau.

Sonny does not answer, but his reaction says enough. He freezes, leaving Remi convinced that his suspicions are correct and that Sonny has continued his involvement despite everything that has already happened.

Remi refuses to become his best man while Sonny remains caught up in Beau’s operation. Sonny storms out rather than explaining himself, while Eden witnesses the confrontation and later gets Remi to reveal what is really happening.

Remi tells Eden that Sonny is dealing steroids and makes her promise to keep the information to herself. Dana remains unaware of the full truth at this point, believing her biggest problem is still persuading Sonny to repair his friendship and finally speak honestly to police.

The situation becomes far more serious when Beau learns Remi has been talking. He later confronts Remi and, after failing to intimidate him into cooperating, orders his associates to deal with him.

The following morning, Sonny tells Dana and Harper that Remi refused to be his best man but avoids explaining why. Their questions only put more pressure on him as he continues trying to protect the secret that has already damaged his friendship.

Beau then arrives with the news that Remi has been badly beaten. Both Harper and Sonny immediately appear suspicious that Beau could have been involved, adding another disturbing dimension to everything Sonny has chosen to keep from Dana.

Sonny rushes to the hospital to check on Remi, where Eden confronts him over what has happened. Furious, she tells Sonny that Remi’s injuries are his fault before storming away.

Dana has followed close enough to hear the confrontation. After weeks of Sonny withholding information and downplaying his connection to the steroid situation, she is finally confronted with evidence that his involvement goes far beyond what he has admitted.

The discovery could not come at a worse moment for the couple. Dana has been celebrating their engagement, planning their wedding and imagining a future with Sonny while he has continued hiding a serious part of his life from her.

Her trust has already been tested by learning that Sonny previously bought steroids and failed to tell Cash what he knew. Hearing Eden directly blame him for Remi ending up in hospital now raises the frightening possibility that Dana has only uncovered part of the truth.

For Sonny, avoiding the conversation has bought him time but has also made the eventual revelation far more damaging. Dana is no longer simply asking why he kept quiet about buying steroids, because she now has reason to question how deeply involved he really is and how long he has been lying to her.

What was supposed to be the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Dana and Sonny is rapidly becoming a crisis of trust. With Remi injured, Beau under growing suspicion and Dana finally hearing the truth closing in around her fiancé, Sonny may be running out of ways to keep his two worlds apart.
