Home and Away casts Nicole da Silva as new doctor Dr Amelia Carlisle
Home and Away has confirmed the arrival of a familiar face, with Wentworth star Nicole da Silva joining the cast as new doctor Dr Amelia Carlisle.
The actress, who is best known for playing Franky Doyle in the acclaimed Australian prison drama Wentworth, is set to make her debut in Summer Bay as a key addition to Northern Districts Hospital.
Nicole’s casting marks a major addition to the Home and Away line up, bringing one of Australia’s most recognisable television performers to the long running soap.
While producers have remained tight lipped about Amelia’s future storylines, it has been confirmed that she will arrive in Summer Bay as the community’s newest doctor. Her arrival follows recent changes at Northern Districts Hospital and is expected to introduce a fresh dynamic to the medical team.
Many viewers will know Nicole from her breakout role as Franky Doyle in Wentworth. The character appeared throughout the early seasons of the prison drama and became one of the show’s most popular and memorable figures. Wentworth went on to achieve international success, helping Nicole build a large fanbase both in Australia and overseas.
Away from Wentworth, Nicole has enjoyed a successful television career with appearances in Rush, Doctor Doctor, Love Me and One Night. Her work across drama series has earned widespread praise and established her as a respected figure within the Australian television industry.
Interestingly, this is not Nicole’s first appearance in Home and Away. Long time viewers may remember she previously appeared in the soap in 2006 as a minor character named Jane Sims. Twenty years later, she returns to Summer Bay in a very different role and as a permanent addition to the cast.
Speaking about joining the soap, Nicole described Home and Away as an iconic Australian television institution and expressed her excitement at becoming part of the show’s history.
She has also revealed that learning the medical terminology required for Dr Amelia Carlisle proved one of the biggest challenges of taking on the role. However, the actress said she quickly settled into life on set thanks to the warm welcome from the cast and crew.
As Dr Amelia Carlisle prepares to arrive in Summer Bay, viewers will be eager to discover how the new doctor fits into the lives of the town’s residents and what stories lie ahead.
Home and Away airs on Channel 7 in Australia and Channel 5 in the UK.
