Home and Away Alf caught avoiding Zane as Marilyn plans intervention
Home and Away’s Alf is called out for avoiding Zane, pushing Marilyn and Leah to devise a plan that will force the pair to finally spend time together.
Alf’s discomfort around Zane becomes impossible to ignore in Home and Away as Marilyn and Leah realise he is doing everything he can to avoid spending proper time with him. After agreeing to give Zane a fair chance, Alf now has to face the reality of actually getting to know him.
Marilyn arrives with Zane’s practical details sorted, including his bank account, superannuation information and mobile number. For her, it is another sign that Zane is beginning to build the foundations of a normal life outside prison.
She suggests Alf head home and use the opportunity to spend some time with him, but Alf immediately finds reasons to remain busy with Surf Club work instead. Marilyn is left frustrated because very little appears to have changed despite Zane now living under the same roof.
The avoidance becomes even more obvious when Alf later arrives at the Diner for food. Leah calls him out directly and questions why he is so reluctant to spend time with Zane after insisting he was prepared to give him a chance.
Alf argues that he is simply being cautious, but the explanation does little to convince either woman. Marilyn has already noticed how strained things feel at home, while Leah can see Alf is still keeping Zane firmly at a distance.
By the following morning, Marilyn admits there has been almost no progress between the pair. Zane may technically be part of the household, but Alf has still managed to avoid any meaningful time with him.
Leah decides subtle encouragement is no longer going to work and suggests forcing the issue instead. Her plan is to trap Alf and Zane under the same roof long enough that Alf cannot keep finding excuses to disappear.
Marilyn immediately sees the potential in the idea and prepares to help put the plan into action. The real issue is no longer whether Alf says Zane deserves a chance, because both women now want to see whether he can actually back those words up.
