Hollyoaks Rex Gallagher memorial brings village together
Hollyoaks brings the village together for Rex’s emotional memorial, but Ste’s growing suspicions ensure the mystery surrounding his murder is far from over.
Hollyoaks will bring several families together as the village gathers to remember Rex, with an emotional memorial offering a rare moment of unity following his murder.
Ro takes responsibility for organising the service after struggling with the loss of his friend. He asks Ste for his blessing before transforming the park into a colourful celebration of Rex’s life, giving those who knew him the opportunity to come together and say goodbye.
The event sees the village rally around both Ro and Ste. Abigail delivers a touching speech in Rex’s memory, while Tony continues dealing with his own grief and supports Ro through another difficult day.
Ste also has Leah firmly by his side as he faces the painful reality of losing his husband. Despite everything surrounding Rex’s death, the memorial allows those closest to him to focus on the person they knew rather than solely on the circumstances of his murder.
The sense of community is particularly important for Ro, who is struggling to adjust to life without Rex. His family remain around him, while Abigail also provides support as he begins trying to process another major loss.
However, the unanswered questions surrounding Rex’s murder are never far away. Martin has revealed that he was paid to kill Rex, but Ste remains suspicious and soon becomes increasingly focused on James.
After finding James hanging around his home, Ste orders him out and begins questioning what his former partner might know. James’ year-long absence also remains a source of uncertainty, particularly as Ste continues trying to understand everything that led to Rex’s death.
Leah later helps her dad search online for more information about Martin, showing that Ste has no intention of abandoning his own investigation. James, meanwhile, attempts to repair his relationship with Ste by arriving at his door with flowers.
Rex’s memorial may give the village a chance to celebrate his life, but it does not provide Ste with the answers he desperately wants. As the community begins moving forward after the service, the mystery surrounding Rex’s murder remains very much alive.
