Hollyoaks’ Abigail makes a mistake as Nancy starts to worry
Abigail’s response to a safeguarding meeting worries Nancy in Hollyoaks, but Dee Dee remains unaware of the danger behind her teacher’s attention.
Coming up on Hollyoaks, Nancy begins questioning Abigail’s behaviour after a safeguarding meeting produces an unexpectedly defensive response. Dee Dee, meanwhile, continues trusting the teacher who has been manipulating her.
Abigail’s position at school gives her authority and access to vulnerable pupils. With Dee Dee, Tony’s daughter, she has used that position to encourage a closeness the teenager struggles to recognise as harmful.
Dee Dee believes their connection is special, leaving her particularly susceptible to Abigail’s influence. The concern is not simply that she likes a teacher, but that an adult is exploiting the trust attached to a professional role.
When Nancy calls Abigail into a meeting following an allegation, Abigail immediately fears that her behaviour has been exposed. She reacts before fully understanding what Nancy wants to discuss.
Abigail discovers that Beth raised the concerns following Maddox’s injury, meaning the meeting is not about Dee Dee. However, her defensive response has already attracted Nancy’s attention and left her questioning why Abigail reacted so strongly.
Nancy remains uneasy about the encounter, giving her a reason to look more closely. Abigail’s relief at escaping the accusation she feared does not undo the impression she has made.
Despite that concern, Abigail is tasked with restarting wellbeing sessions with Dee Dee. A process intended to support a young person therefore provides further contact with the adult exploiting her vulnerability.
The contrast between what Nancy notices and what Dee Dee believes is central to the situation. One is beginning to see behaviour that needs questioning, while the other still regards Abigail as someone offering understanding and support.
