High Tides: Clara and Valerie’s feelings out in the open
High Tides Episodes 7 and 8 see Clara and Valerie grow closer after the accident, while Gabby confronts Clara and Valerie finally reveals the truth about their relationship.
Clara and Valerie’s connection becomes much harder to ignore in High Tides Episodes 7 and 8, with the aftermath of Clara’s near drowning bringing them closer just as Gabby begins to realise how much has changed.
After Valerie pulls Clara from the water, the fear of losing her lingers between them. Clara later visits Valerie with a gift and decides she wants a tattoo, turning what begins as a playful visit into another unexpectedly intimate moment between the pair.
Valerie chooses a design that will move as Clara breathes, giving the tattoo a deeper meaning after what happened in the ocean. The session becomes another example of how naturally Clara and Valerie seem to fall into each other’s company, complete with teasing, private jokes and the sense that both women are becoming increasingly comfortable with the attraction between them. Gabby notices it too, and she is far less willing to stay quiet.
Gabby confronts Clara over Valerie
After seeing Clara at the studio, Gabby later confronts her and accuses her of interfering in the life she has built with Valerie. She insists that she and Valerie share years of history and future plans, while blaming Clara for the changes she has seen since the photographer arrived.
Clara tries to explain that she deliberately stepped away because she did not want to come between them. She also reveals that she is due to leave in just three days, believing that removing herself from the situation is the easiest way to stop causing problems.
The confrontation leaves Clara feeling guilty enough to consider leaving even sooner, but Valerie quickly realises that something has happened. When she pushes Clara for the truth, the version of events she hears from Gabby begins to fall apart.
Valerie explains that the supposed plans between herself and Gabby are not mutual and reveals that she has already tried several times to end their relationship. More importantly, she refuses to allow Clara to believe that she has destroyed anything between them.
Valerie’s admission that Clara has awakened something inside her gives the episode its strongest emotional moment. Clara may see herself as a temporary visitor who arrived at the wrong time, but Valerie clearly sees their meeting very differently.
With Clara preparing to return home and only days remaining before her departure, the growing feelings between them now come with an unavoidable deadline. Gabby’s confrontation may have been intended to push Clara away, but it has instead forced Valerie to finally say what she has been avoiding.
