SOAPS - EMMERDALE

Emmerdale spoilers for 19 to 23 October 2026: 5 big stories you need to know

Five major Emmerdale stories involve Belle and Tom, Kammy's declaration, Lydia and Kim's misunderstanding, Joe's grief and Sadie's plans for Caleb.

Five major storylines take centre stage in Emmerdale, with difficult news for Belle Dingle, confusion over Baby Tate and a social worker's arrival putting Kim Tate on the back foot. Meanwhile, Joe Tate is struggling with grief, Chas Dingle is suspicious of Liam Cavanagh and Sadie King targets Caleb's dinner plans.

Belle faces Tom's impending release and Kammy's declaration

Belle's Victim Liaison Officer tells her that Tom will soon be released from prison and reassures her that he will be subject to strict licence conditions. Even so, Belle's demeanour changes after hearing the news, and Kammy Hadiq is pained to see her reaction when she rushes out.

Kammy is worried about Belle and wants to protect her. Belle later talks to Rhona Goskirk, who has lived experience of what she is going through and helps her take control of her feelings.

Kammy then makes an embarrassing declaration of love, but Belle runs off, unable to cope or respond.

Lydia and Kim's conversation leads to confusion over Baby Tate

Lydia Dingle shares her worries with Kim Tate and is thrilled to assume that Kim has offered Samson a job on his release. However, Lydia is hurt when she discovers that they were talking at cross purposes.

Kim and Lydia also discuss the baby, but Thea overhears them and jumps to the wrong conclusion about the fate of Baby Tate. Kim subsequently faces a social worker demanding to see Joe Tate and his baby following a report of an illegal adoption.

Joe rejects Gabby's attempts to empathise

Joe is struggling with his grief when Gabby Thomas tries to empathise with him. Joe rebuffs her efforts, leaving them still at odds with each other as the social worker demands to see Joe and his baby.

Kim is firmly on the back foot following the social worker's arrival, while the conversation overheard by Thea has already caused confusion about Baby Tate.

Chas becomes suspicious of Liam

Liam Cavanagh is acting furtively, leaving Chas Dingle suspicious about what he is up to. His behaviour catches Chas's attention as the other storylines unfold around the village.

Sadie interferes with Caleb's dinner plans

Sadie King takes note of Caleb's dinner plans with Ruby Miligan before sabotaging his plans for dinner with his wife. Her actions disrupt Caleb's arrangements with Ruby, adding another development to a week already filled with difficult situations.
