Emmerdale spoilers: Charity’s murder charge and Cain’s next shock

Emmerdale is heading into a brutal run of stories, with episodes this coming week from 7 September followed by the first developments for next week from 13 September 2026.

Here is a very short snapshot of what is unfolding, as Charity’s situation worsens, Sarah faces more heartbreak and Nicola begins uncovering the financial mess Jimmy left behind.

This week sees Sarah reeling after Todd’s funeral and Charity’s questioning, with another devastating development adding to everything she is already carrying. Lewis, meanwhile, is excited about his relationship with Vinny, while Caleb becomes increasingly worried about what Nicola may uncover.

Charity’s position then becomes much more serious when she is charged with Todd’s murder. She maintains that there is more to what happened, but she now faces the reality of a criminal case against her.

Coming up also, Nicola discovers that Jimmy sold his part of the haulage business, yet she cannot find the money. Her search through the finances then reveals that problems extend to the family home as well.

Joe remains consumed by grief following Dawn’s death. He visits his son in neonatal care with Kim and makes an important choice concerning the baby’s future, but his emotional struggle is far from over.

Charity also sends Mack to collect her St Christopher pendant and deliver it to Cain. Cain immediately understands why she has sent it, before a later conversation with Charity leaves him stunned.

Nicola’s worries continue as she faces the reality of paying for Jimmy’s funeral, supporting Elliot through university and keeping the family afloat without the money she expected to find.

Then next week, Charity is trying to adjust to prison while Sarah faces pressure over the statement she has already given. Cain receives another bombshell, Joe’s grief continues to overwhelm him and he turns to Graham for help. Elsewhere, one villager is ready to make a significant move in their relationship.
