Emmerdale Ruby survival fears as buried alive ordeal takes terrifying turn

Ruby Miligan faces a terrifying fight to stay alive in Emmerdale as Joe Tate’s revenge leaves her trapped inside a coffin underground. With nobody able to hear her cries and her strength beginning to disappear, Ruby’s ordeal quickly becomes a race against time.

Joe’s grief over Dawn has hardened into anger towards Ruby and Caleb, whom he blames for the events surrounding her death. His revenge reaches horrifying new territory when Ruby wakes in darkness and realises she has been buried alive.

Panic immediately takes over as Ruby screams and desperately tries to escape. There is no obvious way out of the coffin, however, and every attempt to free herself uses more of the limited oxygen keeping her alive.

Beth Cordingly has revealed that Ruby goes through several different stages as the situation deteriorates. Her initial instinct is to fight and call for help, but the physical reality of being trapped underground gradually begins to overwhelm her.

Ruby eventually starts to lose consciousness as her strength fades. That creates the terrifying possibility that even if somebody discovers where she has been buried, they could already be running out of time to reach her.

Caleb is meanwhile confronted with the knowledge that his wife is underground. He desperately needs her exact location, but Joe holds the information that could allow him to find her.

That makes Ruby’s survival about more than escaping the coffin herself. Caleb must somehow discover where she has been taken while Ruby tries to remain conscious long enough to be found.

Whether Ruby survives remains unanswered, but her worsening condition makes the stakes brutally clear. Joe has left Caleb searching for his wife while Ruby’s fight for air becomes increasingly desperate.
