Emmerdale not on ITV1 on Wednesday 16 September as football takes over

Emmerdale will not air in its usual ITV1 slot on Wednesday 16 September, with live football taking over the evening schedule.

Manchester United face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup Third Round at Old Trafford, with kick-off at 8pm. That directly clashes with Emmerdale’s normal 8pm start time.

The soap usually opens ITV’s weekday Soap Power Hour before Coronation Street follows at 8.30pm, but that regular line-up will be interrupted for the night because of the match.

ITV1 will instead be showing live coverage of Manchester United v Brighton, including the build-up and the game itself, meaning there will be no usual 8pm episode of Emmerdale on the channel that evening.

The fixture is one of the occasions where ITV’s regular soap schedule has to move around live sport, with updated listings expected to confirm exactly where the affected Emmerdale episode will sit. Keep an eye on our whatson page, and also the official ITV social media accounts for updates.

Emmerdale usually airs weekdays at 8pm on ITV1 and is also available on ITVX.
