Emmerdale fans ask ‘Is Joe dead?’ after Jimmy King tragedy as Dawn baby fears grow

Tonight’s Emmerdale viewers have been left wondering whether Joe has survived the devastating wedding explosion, just moments after Jimmy died in emotional scenes with Nicola. Dawn managed to escape the marquee before it blew up, but Joe was still trapped inside as the flames took hold.

The disaster came after Dawn and Joe appeared to reconcile following the chaos surrounding their wedding. Joe was unable to move beneath collapsed poles inside the marquee, and although Dawn initially refused to leave him, he urged her to save herself and their unborn baby.

With petrol leaking from Jimmy’s crashed car and damaged cables creating sparks nearby, the danger of an explosion became increasingly clear. Dawn eventually kissed Joe goodbye before leaving with Nicola, but Joe remained trapped when the marquee exploded.

Jimmy had already died from the injuries he suffered in the crash. Nicola stayed beside him during his final moments as the couple shared an emotional declaration of love, with their goodbye quickly becoming one of the most talked-about parts of the episode.

Fans were particularly moved by Jimmy and Nicola’s final scenes. One viewer wrote: “Rest in peace Jimmy,” while another admitted: “Poor Jimmy, I got quite emotional during his scenes with Nicola tonight.”

Another fan said the scenes were “so beautifully done” and had brought them to tears, while one viewer described Jimmy’s ending as a “sweet send off”. Another admitted they had “cried like a baby” through his death despite never being particularly fussed about Jimmy before.

Attention then quickly turned back to Joe as viewers questioned whether Emmerdale could be preparing another death so soon after Jimmy’s.

“So is Joe dead too or did he have plot armour to keep him alive?” one fan asked. Another said they personally hoped Joe survived, describing him as an entertaining villain, while a separate viewer joked that if he made it through the explosion it would be “short of a miracle”.

Dawn’s pregnancy is also worrying viewers after everything she endured during the crash. Although she managed to get out before the explosion, fans are now waiting to discover whether both Dawn and her unborn baby have come through the ordeal safely.

The unanswered question surrounding Joe may not last long, but after Jimmy’s emotional death and the huge explosion that followed, Emmerdale viewers have been left with plenty to process.
