Eddie AI opens new video editing tools to everyone

AI video editor Eddie has rolled out a large collection of new filmmaking tools, including the ability to search lengthy recordings for specific moments and apply new visual treatments using ordinary written instructions. The update was announced on 4 October 2026 and also brings Eddie's DaVinci Resolve connection to users of the free version of the professional editing software.

Six creative tools that had previously been limited to selected Eddie accounts are now available more widely. They include whip, flash and glitch cuts, simulated handheld movement, grain and haze effects, blend modes and complete visual style packs.

Eddie AI can search 90 minutes of footage

One of the more practical additions is a search tool designed to find moments buried inside long recordings. A creator can describe the scene they remember, and Eddie analyses both the images and sound before returning the relevant source, start and end points and an assessment of how confident it is about the match.

The system can search a 90-minute recording rather than requiring an editor to manually scan the entire timeline. It can also recognise clues from the soundtrack, such as a crowd cheering, a whistle or commentary accompanying the moment the creator wants.

The resulting moments are returned as usable sections that can be placed into an edit. Unlike ordinary transcript searches, the feature is intended to find things that happen visually as well as words that were spoken.

Audio description and Resolve also get upgrades

The 4 October update adds automated audio description, including an extended version that can insert additional pauses when more time is needed to explain what is happening on screen. Eddie can even create descriptions for silent videos where there is no dialogue or existing transcript to work from.

Integration with the free version of DaVinci Resolve 21.1 and later has also expanded. Editors can now send timelines into Resolve without needing the paid Studio edition, while cuts, clip positions and other editing information are carried across for further manual work.

Eddie has also added audio clean-up, draggable titles and captions, audio-only exports and improved vertical-video reframing. The update reflects a wider shift in creator AI from generating completely new video towards helping people organise and edit footage they have already filmed.

For filmmakers and online creators, that distinction matters. AI is increasingly becoming part of the editing room itself rather than simply a tool for generating synthetic images.
