EastEnders spoilers for 21–24 September as Ash Panesar and Mark Fowler return to unfinished business

Two familiar faces arrive back in EastEnders, but neither reunion proves straightforward. Ash’s extended visit runs into resistance from Suki, while Mark’s brief stop in Walford stirs feelings Lauren cannot easily dismiss.

Ash’s arrival interrupts the baby’s homecoming

Penny and Vinny are returning home with their newborn when Vinny is summoned to the police station. He believes Suki has been arrested, only to discover that Ash is the relative needing his help.

Following her arrest for drunk and disorderly behaviour, Ash says she has come back to meet the baby. Her announcement that she intends to remain for several weeks catches Penny and Vinny off guard.

The surprise quickly becomes more complicated when Suki refuses to make contact. Eve encourages her to talk to Ash, but Suki does not realise her daughter has overheard their discussion.

Eve helps reopen a difficult conversation

A comment about Suki’s parenting brings their unresolved tension back to the surface. With Eve helping them find a way through the argument, mother and daughter eventually reconcile.

However, Suki then explains that Ash cannot stay because she and Eve need to prioritise Ria. For Ash, that boundary feels like another rejection just as they appear to be making progress.

A later conversation with Vinny gives Ash an opportunity to talk. Suki continues trying to connect, unaware that forgiveness has not followed their apparent reconciliation.

Mark has a farewell in mind

Lauren spots Mark crossing the Square towards No.43, while Vicki’s delight at seeing him soon fades. He reveals that he is heading to Florida and has returned only to say goodbye.

Lauren initially reads his arrival differently, believing he has come back for her. Learning his actual plans adds another emotional complication as she and Peter argue about her knowledge of Max’s affair.

Although Lauren apologises to Peter, Mark’s presence continues to unsettle her at Harvey’s birthday party. Later, she insists their actions cannot be repeated, but his approaching departure leaves her conflicted.
