EastEnders spoilers 5–8 October 2026 as Nancy’s truth shocks Linda and Ian’s homecoming falls apart

Coming up in EastEnders, Linda discovers Nancy has been keeping something from her, while Ian’s return from prison is far from the homecoming Kathy hopes for. Nicola also has to contend with Ned taking a hands-on role at Harry’s Barn after blackmailing his way into the business.

Nancy returns to Walford seeking legal advice from Johnny, with one firm request: Linda must not know she is there. But keeping her visit quiet becomes impossible when Max reveals she is back, prompting Linda and Elaine to seek her out.

Rather than bringing mother and daughter closer, the reunion ends in an argument and Linda leaves. Nancy later returns to tell her mum the truth, leaving Linda shocked by what is really happening.

Elaine and Johnny try to smooth things over, but Linda decides that greater honesty needs to start with her. She tells the family about her relationship with Max, hoping they will become more willing to confide in her in return.

Her announcement follows an uncomfortable moment when Annie and Ollie catch the couple kissing.

Max wants them to keep their relationship quiet until his annulment from Cindy is finalised, but Linda chooses to bring her family into the picture.

At Harry’s Barn, Nicola is finding out exactly what sharing the business with Ned involves.

Having blackmailed her into handing over a stake, he makes it clear he intends to have a say in how the bar operates.

A break from work brings a happier moment as Nicola heads home for George’s return and reminisces with Gemma.

That warmth disappears when Jodie unpacks their dad’s medal, triggering an outburst from Nicola.

Gemma finds her in The Vic, but Nicola refuses to explain her reaction and says she wishes they had never moved to Walford.

George eventually helps her calm down, and she apologises to Gemma.

Ned then gathers the family at Harry’s Barn to unveil the medal in a frame, deliberately trying to provoke Nicola. This time, however, she refuses to react, leaving him surprised.

Nicola also notices tension between Ryder and Ned while showing Ryder the ropes behind the bar.

She takes him to lunch to encourage him to open up, and their bond continues to grow before his arrival with a date shocks her.

Later, Ryder asks to speak to Nicola alone.

Meanwhile, Harvey tries to be there for everyone as Kathy prepares for Ian’s return.

He supports Lily by agreeing to attend a career fair and takes on cleaning the chippy ahead of an inspection, despite already having too much to manage.

When Lily reveals she will miss a career open day to look after Charli, Harvey offers to babysit.

His kindness has consequences elsewhere when he misses the inspection, prompting an argument with Ian during welcome-home drinks at The Vic.

Already overwhelmed after prison, Ian flees the gathering and continues shutting out his family. Discovering that the chippy has been vandalised only adds to his distress.

Ned steps in to help clean off the graffiti and gets Ian to confront what happened on the night of the accident. Ian subsequently reaches out to Chelsea and thanks Ned for supporting him.

Elsewhere, Alfie struggles to get through to Kat as she keeps him at a distance.

Penny and Vinny are exhausted by life with a newborn, and Penny defends him when Suki questions their parenting.

But another uncomfortable conversation leaves Penny anxious for a different reason.

Rose and Jodie comment that baby Ethan does not look like Vinny, putting his resemblance firmly in the spotlight.
