EastEnders spoilers for 5–8 October 2026 as Nancy shocks Linda, Ned tries to provoke Nicola and Ian struggles after returning home from prison.
EastEnders brings Nancy back to Walford with something to hide this week. Her return leaves Linda searching for answers, while Ian faces a difficult homecoming and Nicola tries to resist Ned’s attempts to unsettle her.
On Monday, Nancy turns to Johnny for legal advice and makes it clear she does not want Linda knowing she is there. However, Max reveals her arrival, sending Linda and Elaine straight to see her.
The reunion quickly becomes strained, with an argument standing in the way of any warm welcome. Nancy eventually reveals what has brought her back, leaving Linda shocked by the truth.

Linda tells her family about Max
Linda is also struggling to keep her own relationship private after Annie and Ollie see her kissing Max. He wants them to remain discreet until his annulment with Cindy has been finalised.
By Tuesday, Linda decides that being open about her own life might help her family feel able to do the same. As Johnny and Elaine attempt to calm the situation with Nancy, she tells them about her romance with Max.

Ned’s provocation fails to shake Nicola
At Harry’s Barn, Nicola discovers that Ned intends to be closely involved in running the business. Having blackmailed his way into a share of the bar, he is making his presence felt.
He then gathers the family to show them Nicola’s dad’s framed medal, expecting to get under her skin. Nicola denies him the reaction he wants, leaving Ned surprised.

On Wednesday, her attention turns to Ryder when she notices friction between him and his father. She takes her nephew to lunch and gives him an opportunity to talk.
Their connection grows, but Thursday brings an unexpected moment when Ryder arrives at Harry’s Barn with a date. Later, he asks Nicola if they can speak alone.

Ian struggles with his return to Walford
Wednesday sees Ian released from prison, but coming home does not mean putting his ordeal behind him. He returns traumatised and faces another setback when the chip shop is vandalised.
Ned helps remove the graffiti and encourages Ian to confront what happened on the night of the accident. Afterwards, Ian makes contact with Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Penny finds herself unsettled by Rose and Jodie’s observations about Ethan. When they remark that he bears little resemblance to Vinny, she fears her secret could become harder to protect.
