EastEnders Kim and Howie Wedding Moves to Denise’s Hospital Bedside

Kim and Howie are finally ready to become husband and wife, but their wedding day takes an emotional turn when Denise is unable to join the family celebrations. Rather than allowing Kim to face one of the biggest moments of her life without her sister, Howie finds another way to make sure Denise is included.

Kim has been looking forward to her wedding, but Denise remaining in hospital casts a shadow over the occasion. Whatever celebrations are waiting back in Walford, Kim cannot escape the fact that someone incredibly important to her will not be standing alongside the rest of the family.

Howie sees how much this is affecting Kim and decides their plans need to change. The couple had been due to marry at the community centre, where friends and relatives are waiting to celebrate with them, but Howie knows that having Denise involved means far more to Kim than sticking rigidly to the original arrangements.

The wedding therefore takes an unexpected but deeply personal direction as Kim and Howie head to the hospital. With Denise there beside them and their loved ones watching from outside, the couple exchange their vows at her bedside.

It means Denise is able to witness her sister becoming Mrs Danes despite being too unwell to attend the planned ceremony. For Kim, the change ensures the person she desperately wanted there has not been excluded from the moment that matters most.

There is further encouragement for the family when they receive news concerning Denise’s treatment. A provisional stem-cell match has been found, giving everyone some much-needed hope while they remain focused on her recovery.

After the ceremony, attention can finally turn towards celebrating Kim and Howie’s marriage. Their wedding may have ended up looking very different from the one they originally organised, but the change of location makes the day even more centred around family.

Howie’s decision also shows just how much he understands Kim and the bond she shares with Denise. Instead of asking his bride to push aside her feelings and continue without her sister, he makes sure Denise remains part of their biggest moment.

Kim does not get the conventional wedding she expected, but she does get something more important. She gets to say her vows with Howie while Denise is there to see it, bringing a much-needed moment of happiness to the Fox family.
