EastEnders Kim and Howie Face Wedding Reception Surprise After Vows
EastEnders newlyweds Kim and Howie return from their emotional hospital wedding to find Ryder and Jodie have caused trouble at their reception.
Kim and Howie may finally be married, but their eventful wedding day still has another surprise waiting when they return to Walford. After exchanging their vows beside Denise’s hospital bed, the newlyweds discover that things have not exactly remained quiet at their reception.
The couple had originally planned to marry at the community centre, but Denise’s condition leaves Kim upset at the thought of her sister missing such an important family occasion. Howie responds by changing their plans so Denise can still witness the ceremony, resulting in the pair marrying at the hospital instead.
It proves to be an emotional moment for the whole family, particularly as Denise is able to watch Kim and Howie make their commitment to one another. The news that a provisional stem-cell match has also been identified for Denise gives the family another reason to feel hopeful on an already memorable day.
Once the vows are complete, Kim and Howie return to the community centre to continue their celebrations. However, while the wedding party has been away, Ryder and Jodie have taken advantage of the unattended reception and helped themselves to the alcohol.
Kim is far from impressed when she discovers what they have been doing. After dealing with the emotion surrounding Denise and having the entire wedding ceremony moved, finding trouble waiting at the reception is hardly the welcome she wanted.
The incident also brings members of Nicola’s newly arrived family into another Walford event. Ryder has already been causing concern with his behaviour, while Ned is struggling with his son and the problems that appear to follow him.
For Kim and Howie, however, the interruption cannot take away from the importance of what has already happened. They have finally become husband and wife, and they managed to do it without leaving Denise out of their special moment.
Their wedding has been anything but straightforward, with plans changing and unexpected problems appearing throughout the day. What ultimately matters to Kim is that Denise was there when she and Howie exchanged their vows and that the family has finally received a little hope concerning her treatment.
The reception may require Kim to deal with Ryder and Jodie first, but there is still plenty worth celebrating. After everything the Fox family has faced, Kim and Howie’s marriage gives them a welcome reason to come together for something happy.
