EastEnders’ Ian Beale faces prison as Elaine fears final goodbye

EastEnders’ Ian faces the possibility of being sent to prison in upcoming scenes, leaving Elaine preparing for what could be their final night together before he learns his fate in court. Having pleaded guilty after hitting Jordan with his car and causing the youngster serious injuries, Ian must now confront the prospect that he could be taken directly into custody.

Elaine supports Ian before court

That support became particularly important when Ian was receiving conflicting advice from his family. While Kathy encouraged him to fight the charge, Peter urged him to consider the consequences for Jordan and accept the legal advice he had been given.

Ian eventually decided to plead guilty after confronting the reality of what had happened. He admitted that Jordan deserved justice and explained that he did not want Jimmy and Louie to feel ashamed of him, even though accepting responsibility could mean losing precious time with both boys.

Could Ian receive a prison sentence?

Ian’s solicitor previously warned him that he could still receive a custodial sentence despite the possibility of the charge being reduced from dangerous driving to careless driving. The seriousness of Jordan’s injuries means the court may decide that a prison sentence is necessary, although Ian’s guilty plea could be considered when his punishment is determined.
