Could Emmerdale Village Tour and Harewood House Be Yorkshire’s Perfect Christmas Day Out?

Visitors to the famous Emmerdale Village set can enjoy an additional Christmas experience at Harewood House in West Yorkshire this festive season, with a special £10 upgrade available when booking their village tour.

The offer combines a behind-the-scenes visit to the working ITV filming location with Magic at the Mansion, an immersive Christmas attraction running from 6 November 2026 until 3 January 2027. It gives visitors an opportunity to explore two popular Yorkshire attractions in one day, with discounted admission to the historic house.

What Can You See on the Emmerdale Village Tour?

The Emmerdale Village Tour takes visitors around the real outdoor set where the ITV soap is filmed, offering the chance to explore locations normally seen on television.

The 90-minute guided experience includes The Woolpack, David’s Shop, Café Main Street and the famous village sign, with opportunities to take photographs and learn how the programme is produced. Guides explain behind-the-scenes details about the working set, while visitors can see the familiar buildings and streets used in the show.

Tours operate on selected weekends and bank holidays, with visitors transported by coach from Harewood House to the filming location. The tour covers the exterior village set rather than the indoor studio sets, which are not included in the experience.

What Is Magic at the Mansion?

Harewood House has introduced Magic at the Mansion, a Christmas experience created by Studio McGuire that brings the building’s historic rooms, artwork and collections to life through imaginative displays and digital projections.

Visitors can encounter talking furniture, animated household objects, presents with stories to tell and characters inspired by the house’s history. The displays combine festive entertainment with storytelling about the people and collections associated with Harewood.

The experience also offers an opportunity to explore the surrounding estate, which includes more than 140 acres of gardens and landscaped grounds. Visitors can enjoy the Italianate Terrace, lakeside walks and other outdoor attractions, subject to seasonal opening arrangements.

Cafés, shops and family attractions provide further reasons to extend the visit, although individual facilities may operate different winter hours.

How Much Does the Combined Experience Cost?

Standard adult Emmerdale Village Tour tickets start at £42, while the Magic at the Mansion upgrade costs an additional £10 per person. A £2.30 per-person Harewood Trust levy also applies, bringing the starting cost of the combined adult experience to £54.30, before any additional booking fees or optional purchases.

The levy supports Harewood House and provides access to its grounds, gardens and facilities as part of the tour arrangement. During the Christmas season, admission to the festive experience inside the house is not included in the standard village ticket and must be added separately.

The £10 upgrade offers a saving compared with buying a separate Harewood House adult day ticket, which starts at £24.50 online. Visitors must book the Christmas experience alongside their Emmerdale Village Tour and attend both attractions on the same day.

What Should Visitors Know Before Booking?

Visitors should plan their day carefully, particularly if they have booked an afternoon village tour. The Emmerdale attraction advises anyone whose tour returns at approximately 4pm to visit Harewood House beforehand, rather than risk missing the Christmas experience.

Harewood House operates different opening and last-admission hours depending on the date, so visitors should check their booking details and the house’s published schedule. The Christmas experience also has allocated entry slots, making advance planning particularly important.

The village tour involves walking outdoors on uneven ground and slopes, so comfortable footwear and appropriate winter clothing are recommended. Accessibility support is available, and visitors with specific mobility requirements should contact the attraction before booking.
