Coronation Street’s Jodie exposed as the Platts discover her hidden gun

Jodie’s lies begin to unravel in Coronation Street next week when the Platts discover that she has been hiding a gun inside her mysterious trinket box. The disturbing discovery comes as David and Shona are already questioning whether Jodie can be trusted following Sarah’s claims about the night she was attacked.

Sarah has told the police about the events at number 8 and named Jodie as the person who assaulted her. Kit passes the news to the rest of the family, leaving Shona to confront her sister while David visits Sarah in prison looking for answers.

David wants to know why Sarah kept quiet about Jodie for so long, but Sarah insists that she cannot be trusted. With little left to lose, she reveals that Jodie was desperate to protect a trinket box and claims this was why Jodie struck her over the head.

Sarah urges David to locate the box and discover what Jodie has been hiding. Her warning leaves him deeply unsettled, particularly as the family should be celebrating baby Harper finally returning home after spending more than six months in hospital.

Lily uncovers Jodie’s secret

After an exhausting day, David and Shona decide to leave their worries until the morning. Lily later creeps into the living room to play on the games console and reaches beneath the sofa, where she unexpectedly finds Jodie’s elusive trinket box.

The family gathers to welcome Harper home with a surprise celebration, although Jodie is notably absent following the recent revelations. While the adults are occupied, Lily waits until she can speak to Jodie privately and confronts her about the firearm she found.

David soon learns what his daughter has seen, leaving Jodie under pressure to explain why she has been concealing a weapon inside the family home. She quickly insists that the gun is fake, but the truth is far more troubling.

Jodie stole the real firearm from Kev’s garage and now lies to the family in an attempt to escape suspicion. Her latest explanation does little to reassure the Platts, who are already struggling to make sense of Sarah’s accusations and Jodie’s increasingly secretive behaviour.

Jodie attempts to win David over

Jodie later spots an opportunity to improve her position when she sees Lily sitting with Harry at the precinct. A group of boys are bullying Harry, and Jodie steps in before driving them away.

When Lily tells David about the intervention, Jodie’s apparent act of protection helps soften his attitude towards her. David decides that she may deserve another chance, despite the unanswered questions surrounding the gun and Sarah’s attack.

Jodie’s actions around Harry may appear caring, but another secret move raises further concerns about her intentions. Once she is alone, she opens her laptop and begins creating a new parenting forum account.

Rather than using her own identity, Jodie calls herself “Shona” and pretends to be a first-time mother recovering from a traumatic birth. The deception suggests she is preparing another scheme while borrowing her sister’s personal experience to make the false story appear convincing.

The discovery of the gun should give David and Shona clear reason to remain cautious, yet Jodie continues finding ways to regain their confidence. By presenting herself as Harry’s defender, she manages to shift attention away from the weapon and the allegations made by Sarah.

However, Lily now knows what was inside the trinket box, while Sarah has already warned David that Jodie poses a danger to the family. Jodie may have secured more time inside the Platt household, but her false account and stolen firearm leave her vulnerable to exposure as the family moves closer to uncovering what she is planning.
