Coronation Street's Idris may already have won before Leanne makes her decision

When a stranger arrives in Weatherfield offering a solution to someone's problems, alarm bells usually start ringing. That is exactly what is happening with Idris, but what makes this storyline particularly intriguing is that he does not appear to be forcing Leanne into anything. Instead, he seems to be quietly making himself the only realistic option left.

On the surface, Leanne still has a choice. She can continue trying to save Speed Daal herself, sell to a genuine buyer or accept Idris' offer. However, as the story unfolds, those alternatives begin disappearing one by one, leaving Nick and Toyah increasingly convinced that Idris has been controlling events long before Leanne realises what is happening.

The first major warning sign comes when a genuine buyer, Gavin, expresses interest in purchasing Leanne's share of the restaurant. It should have been the breakthrough she had been hoping for, giving her another route out of the financial uncertainty surrounding Speed Daal.

Instead, Gavin is reportedly intimidated before any deal can progress, leaving Leanne back where she started. Almost immediately afterwards, Idris steps forward with his own lucrative offer, making himself appear to be the only person willing and able to rescue the situation.

That sequence of events is what has Nick and Toyah so concerned. Their fears are not based simply on instinct or first impressions. From their perspective, every development seems to benefit Idris, while every alternative available to Leanne quietly disappears.

What makes the storyline more compelling is that Idris does not need to pressure Leanne directly. If every other option falls away naturally, accepting his proposal begins to look less like a risky decision and more like the only sensible one.

It is a subtle form of manipulation if that is indeed what Coronation Street is building towards. Rather than demanding control, Idris allows circumstances to do the work for him, creating a situation where Leanne could believe the decision is entirely her own.

That also explains why Nick and Toyah are becoming increasingly desperate to intervene. They are not simply trying to stop a business deal. They fear Leanne is being guided towards a conclusion that was carefully engineered from the very beginning.

Leanne, however, sees something completely different. She is facing financial uncertainty and difficult decisions, while Idris appears to offer stability at exactly the moment she needs it most. From her perspective, Nick and Toyah's objections may simply sound like negativity when she is trying to find a way forward.

The writers are also keeping Idris himself shrouded in mystery. Very little is known about his true motives, allowing his actions to speak louder than any explanation he could give. That uncertainty creates an atmosphere where viewers are encouraged to question every move he makes, even when there appears to be a perfectly reasonable explanation.

If Idris has genuinely manipulated events, it would make him a very different type of Coronation Street villain. Rather than relying on threats or intimidation in plain sight, he would be succeeding through careful planning, ensuring his target believes every decision is being made freely.

Whether Nick and Toyah can convince Leanne before she accepts Idris' offer remains to be seen. The bigger question, though, may be whether there is actually a decision left to make, or whether Idris has quietly been steering events in his favour all along.
