Coronation Street Todd and Glenda Feud Turns Bitter

Todd Grimshaw and Glenda Shuttleworth’s friendship is heading into dangerous territory in Coronation Street as concern over Todd’s drinking turns into a bitter personal feud. What begins as Glenda trying to make Todd confront his behaviour soon leaves him feeling humiliated, with his anger threatening to cause far more damage than their original disagreement.

Since returning from Thailand, Todd has been throwing himself into nights out and drinking, with those around him beginning to notice just how much alcohol he is consuming. His behaviour appears to be connected to the pain he has been carrying from the past year, but Todd seems more comfortable distracting himself than openly dealing with how he feels.

After another drinking session with Christina, Todd discusses his boozing with Mary and Glenda. Glenda becomes concerned enough to speak plainly, warning Todd that if he continues behaving this way, he could eventually find himself without any friends.

Todd does not hear her words as the intervention of somebody who cares about him. Instead, he feels Glenda has humiliated him and becomes furious, turning what could have been an uncomfortable but important conversation between friends into the beginning of a much nastier fallout.

That decision could transform an argument into a much deeper betrayal. Glenda may have been blunt about Todd’s drinking, but her warning was rooted in concern that his current behaviour was pushing away the people around him, while Todd’s response risks doing exactly that.
