Coronation Street Shona fears David no longer trusts her with Harper

Shona is left questioning David’s trust in her in Coronation Street this week, as concerns surrounding Harper create fresh tension between the couple.

With so much already happening around the family, Shona begins to worry that David does not trust her when it comes to Harper. It is a painful thought, particularly when trust should be at the heart of their relationship.

Shona has no desire to be treated as though she cannot be relied upon, and David’s behaviour leaves her wondering what he really thinks. Even if his actions are driven by concern for Harper, Shona is left feeling the impact.

The issue comes at an especially complicated time because Shona is about to face another major surprise from her own family.

Doug unexpectedly arrives back in Weatherfield, leaving Shona stunned when she comes face to face with her estranged father. By Friday, Doug will ask whether there is any possibility of repairing their damaged relationship.

That means Shona is suddenly dealing with questions of trust from two directions. While she worries about where she stands with David, she must also decide whether a man from her past deserves another chance to be part of her life.

The Harper situation is therefore likely to hit particularly hard. Shona needs to feel that David sees her as someone he can depend upon, rather than somebody who needs to be kept at a distance.

Whether the pair can address what is happening before resentment begins to build remains to be seen. With Doug also returning unexpectedly, Shona is heading into an emotionally difficult few days.
