Coronation Street Jodie Ramsey sabotages her dad’s treatment
Jodie puts Doug’s health at risk by switching his medication in Coronation Street, determined to stop her father exposing her behaviour to Shona and David.
Jodie deliberately interferes with her dad’s treatment in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, using his health to protect her own lies. With Doug aware of her behaviour and increasingly concerned about her intentions, she decides to make him appear less believable.
Doug’s presence threatens the position Jodie has built within Shona’s family. He knows her well enough to recognise worrying patterns, making him a problem she is determined to control.
Rather than allowing him to speak freely, Jodie searches through his belongings and replaces his antipsychotic medication with ordinary painkillers. Her intention is to make his returning symptoms undermine anything he might say about her.
The consequences soon become apparent when Doug reacts strangely to the radio. David and Shona watch with concern, unaware that Jodie has secretly tampered with his treatment.
For Jodie, their alarm is exactly the response she wanted. As Doug becomes confused and suspicious, she continues making the situation worse instead of helping him.
The cruelty lies in how deliberately she creates the circumstances that could discredit him. Doug is being deprived of his prescribed medication by someone who wants his family to question his judgement.
Meanwhile, Jodie continues presenting herself as a helpful presence around David, Shona and the children. She can appear caring while concealing the harm she is causing their father.
David and Shona are left worried by what they see happening to Doug. Jodie, however, is pleased that her interference is having the effect she intended.
