Jodie is caught pretending to be Shona in disturbing Coronation Street scenes, leaving Doug increasingly concerned about her behaviour around David.
Jodie’s behaviour takes another disturbing turn this week when Doug catches her pretending to be Shona.
The moment immediately alarms him. Jodie’s impersonation of Shona is strange enough on its own, but Doug becomes even more unsettled when he notices the way she looks at David.
It comes after several days in which Jodie has repeatedly crossed boundaries. Earlier in the week, she secretly entered Sarah’s flat and overheard a conversation that left her stunned. She then began using the information she discovered, playing games with Bethany before arranging to visit Sarah in prison because she has something to reveal.
Pretending to be Shona adds another layer to Jodie’s behaviour and raises even more questions about what is driving her. Doug’s reaction is particularly telling. He does not simply laugh off what he sees, and instead becomes genuinely disturbed by the situation in front of him.
David may not yet fully understand what is happening, but Jodie’s interest in him is now noticeable enough for somebody else to pick up on it.
For Doug, the discovery could not come at a more complicated time. He has returned to Weatherfield hoping to repair his relationship with Shona, but he may now be forced to deal with Jodie at the same time.
Jodie has so far managed to keep people uncertain about exactly what she wants. Being caught pretending to be Shona, however, could be the moment her increasingly unusual behaviour becomes much harder for those around her to dismiss.
